Dr. Dre to Develop Music/Crime Drama Series for FX

Deadline.com reports that Dr Dre is currently developing a one-hour television drama for FX. The rapper, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, will also executive produce the series along with Sidney Quashie, Daniel Schnider and Brad Bertner.

The series will be penned by Quashie and will follow "present day Los Angeles through the lenses of the music business and the crime business." The project is one of a several recently announced ventures by the cable network, including an adaptation of the Coen brothers' 1996 movie Fargo, comedy pilot Legit starring Australian comedian Jim Jefferies and Powers, based on the Brian Michael Bendis comic.

Dr. Dre is the founder and current CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and a former co-owner and artist of Death Row Records. He has produced albums for and overseen the careers of many rappers, including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent and Game.
