On Sunday, August 7, at 8 p.m. eastern time, Nick Jr will premiere the new musical adventure called "Dora's Explorer Girls!" The special depicts Dora not as the young explorer followed by her monkey friend Boots, but as the older, sundress and legging-wearing teen and her four best friends, Kate, Alana, Emma, and Naiya, from Nick Jr's Dora's Girls website.

In the movie, the girls are on their way to a Shakira concert, but have lost their tickets. Can Dora use her map-reading skills and work together with the others to get them to the concert in time? Find out in "Dora's Explorer Girls!"

Director/Choreographer Luis Salgado was hired by Nickelodeon to create the movement for the upcoming animated special feature. Six talented dancers, between the ages of ten and thirteen, each got a chance to represent and give life to a character from the show. Olivia Cupo, Alanna Logan, Ashley B. Hillis, Brittany Goodman, Jazmine Rose and Angelica Lopez -who played Dora- danced to the Latin beats of the new musical infused with the Latin dance steps by Salgado and Shakira's music. "Many of these young artists came to me from McDonald/Selznick Associates agency." says Luis Salgado and adds, "They all did a fantastic job immersing themselves in the process created to bring out the right personality that each character needed. I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity and of having the support of my agency to cast such great young talent."

With the aid of writer Chris Gifford, Beth Bogush and Choreography Supervisor, Andy Blankenbuehler, Luis had the chance to Explore Story Telling made for 2D Animation. "With Luis, I never see him approach work as if it is merely a job. He approaches work as an opportunity to explore and glorify life. Luis is truly a creative artist, because whether it is through his work on stage, behind the table, or beside the choreographer, he attacks every moment of life. And he makes each of those moments golden." Says Andy Blankenbuehler the Tony award winning choreographer of In The Heights, who recommended Luis. "He captures the spirit and personalities of each character through movement and dance" says Ali Solomon who worked as Assistant Choreographer in the project.

The new musical adventure called "Dora's Explorer Girls!"s is part of the 10th year anniversary of "Dora the Explorer".
