Variety reports that Donald Trump has cancelled his scheduled appearance on tonight's JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE just hours before the show was to be taped. This week, the late night show is airing from Kimmel's hometown of Brooklyn, New York.

The host shared the cancellation news during his appearance on Howard Stern's radio show this morning. He is expected to share details of why Trump backed out of the show on tonight's broadcast.

Kimmel told Stern, "Donald Trump canceled on us last night," adding that the reason is "unclear," but that Trump indicated a political event was the source of conflict. "I don't know what happened," joked the comic, "We're delighted, needless to say."

According to the site, the Republican presidential candidate was not scheduled for a sit-down interview on the show but rather was to participate in an on-stage sktech, most likely to air after the first guest's interview.
