Variety reports that Disney has tapped Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio to pen their previously announced IT'S A SMALL WORLD film, based on the iconic theme park attraction. The project, in development since 2014, will be directed by Jon Turteltaub directing.

The long-running Disney ride was the creation of WED Enterprises and first debuted during the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, New York. At the time, it was considered a state of the art attraction which employed brand new audio-animatronics.

THE RIDE was replicated at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA in 1965 and is now a staple in five Disney theme parks around the world.

According to the site: "It's a Small World" features over 300 audio-animatronic dolls from all over the world singing the upbeat title song, which promotes peace and understanding. The song was written by Disney's staff songwriters Robert S. Sherman and Richard B. Sherman after Walt Disney had told the brothers to craft a tune that could be easily translated into multiple languages.
