Deadline reports that Diane Kruger will make her U.S. TV series debut in the upcoming FX drama pilot THE BRIDGE. The project will be helmed by director Gerardo Naranjo and will be adapted from the Scandinavian series 'Bron/Broen' by Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and Elwood Reid (Hawaii Five-O).

According to the report, THE BRIDGE will follow "two detectives from the United States and Mexico – El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North (Kruger) and Marco Ruiz — who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border."

Kruger's character is described as, "a dogged cop who lacks tact, warmth and empathy. Shockingly candid, she calls the world like she sees it – which can be off-putting to her colleagues, but also refreshing and funny."

The German-born Kruger is best known for her roles as Helen in Troy, Dr. Abigail Chase in National Treasure and its sequel, Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds, Anna in Mr. Nobody, and Gina in Unknown. She will soon be seen in Special Forces, The Host and Green Blades Rising.
