Dave Bautista in Talks to Join Michael Pena in FANTASY ISLAND

Dave Bautista is in talks to join the cast of "Fantasy Island," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original 1977 "Fantasy Island" was a television series that ran for seven seasons starring Ricardo Montalban as the white-suited Mr. Roarke who oversaw a mysterious island where people could live out their fantasies - for a price. Michael Pena will star as Mr. Roarke in the film, which is described as being a tonal mix of "Westworld" meets "Cabin in the Woods."

If he is cast, Bautista will play a former guest who is still on the island against his will and who wants to expose Roarke and the island's magical secrets.

The film is bring co-financed by Sony and Blumhouse. Production begins on January 14th with Jeff Wadlow directing and co-writing the script with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs. The film will be produced by Jason Blum with Wadlow executive producing.

Bautista is best known for playing Drax in Marvel's two "Guardians of the Galaxy" films and the "Avengers: Infinity War." He will reprise is role as Drax in the upcoming "Avengers 4."
