DR. OZ Has Emotional Reunion With Injured British Tourist Today
Tomorrow The Dr. Oz Show will air an emotional reunion between Dr. Oz, British taxi cab accident Survivor Sian Green and good Samaritan plumber David Justino who helped stopped the bleeding from her severed leg by using his belt as a tourniquet. This major news story which happened in August garnered national headlines when a Rogue taxi cab suddenly drove onto the sidewalk and struck Ms. Green, 23 who was seated on a fountain wall on 6th avenue in New York City. The Dr. Oz Show production offices, located across the street, were close enough for Dr. Oz to see and hear the commotion and help out at the scene as ambulances arrived. One day after her release from the hospital, Sian Green met Dr. Oz for the first time after that tragic day, and was reunited with the man who likely saved her life - David Justino. Below are links to some clips from tomorrow's broadcast, some notes on the show and a link to some still pictures.
Absolutely. Those questions always run through your mind. And even still now I still get them days where I'm just a bit not, not as happy, not as smiley. But I still do smile. When Dave Justino Came out: (Dr. Oz asked Sian if she had met Dave Justino and she said no, he ad met her parents at the hospital but she would love to thank him, Dr. OZ then says "Well he is here today - Dave Justino come on out!" Sian and Justino shared a very lengthy emotional embrace and then began to talk.) Dr. Oz: Ok, now he is here, what do you want to say to him? SIAN GREEN
I just, I, I, the appreciation and I just, oh, thank you. DAVE JUSTINO
You're welcome. You're so welcome. [applause] You don't have to say thank you. I happened. I tried, I wasn't even thinking. I didn't even think. I just saw you there and the only thing I had was my belt and that's what I needed. Later on: Dr. Oz: I think you're a hero, but I know you've been desirous of not taking that moniker. DAVE JUSTINO (HUMBLY)
I, to me, uh, I just helped her. She needed the help. Our heroes are marines, a guy who knows he's going to possibly save a life or lose his own or police officer or fireman. Those are the guys, I'm a plumber. Dr. Oz tributing both: David personifies the rich act of kindness and reflects on the passion we all have for each other in our best moments and Sian, to me, personifies the resilience of the human spirit, grace, optimism. You shined forth like a north star to so many of us. Photo credit: Zoco Productions
