Deadline reports that a TV series based on Washington Irving's 19th century short story THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW is being developed by both the FOX network and The CW.

Last month, FOX announced that Star Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci were in talks to adapt Sleepy Hollow for the network. The series was described as "a modern-day supernatural thriller based on Washington Irving's 1820 tale which follows Ichabod Crane as he joins up with Sleepy Hollow's tough female sheriff to battle forces of good and evil."

Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo will co-write The CW version of the tale, which the network describes as "a boundary-pushing horror story for television". The series will follow Ichabod Crane as an FBI agent who is investigating a rash of ritual beheadings in the legendary town of Sleepy Hollow

In 1999, director Tim Burton released his own adaptation of the book, starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.
