Clint Dempsey, captain of the U.S. Men's National Soccer team, will visit The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday, July 9 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Dempsey, a Texas native who currently plays for the Major League Soccer squad Seattle Sounders and is a veteran of the English Premier League teams Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, was a standout player for the U.S. Team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. During the U.S.-Ghana match on June 16, Dempsey scored 30 seconds into the group play match, making it the fastest goal in American World Cup history and fifth-fastest goal in World Cup history. With this goal, Dempsey also became the first American player to score in three consecutive World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014).

Also featured on the LATE SHOW Wednesday, July 9 is a performance by musical guests Sleeper Agent.

The Late Show with David Letterman is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope, Eric Stangel, Justin Stangel and Rob Burnett are the executive producers. Jerry Foley is the director.
