Variety reports that Channing Tatum's X-Men spinoff GAMBIT will hit theaters October 7, 2016, just three months after X-MEN: APOCALYPSE graces the big screen.

GAMBIT, with a script by Joshua Zetumer, is Twentieth Century Fox's eighth X-MEN film.

The movie follows the seminal comic character who "has the ability to charge matter with volatile kinetic energy, causing the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact."

The most recent X-MEN film, 'DAYS OF FUTURE PAST,' hit theaters on May 23, 2014, and starred Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halley Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Evan Jonigkeit.

Tatum's other upcoming projects include JUPITER ASCENDING, MAGIC MIKE XXL, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, HAIL, CAESAR!, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and 23 JUMP STREET. Among his past credits are STEP UP, G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, the first 'JUMP STREET' and MAGIC MIKE films and more.
