Casa Barilla, the Italian fast casual chain, owned by Barilla, the world's most popular brand of pasta, will begin serving a new plant-based legume pasta dish in collaboration with Thug Kitchen at its restaurants in South Coast Plaza (California) and Radio City (New York).

Partnering with Thug Kitchen, Casa Barilla will debut a new limited-time menu item featuring Barilla's new Red Lentil Penne and Sundried Tomato Pesto made with Calabrian chili, garlic and toasted almonds.Barilla's new red lentil penne is made from just one simple ingredient: red lentil flour, naturally rich in plant-based proteins and fibers.

The Red Lentil Penne Pasta with Sundried Tomato Pesto will be available at South Coast Plaza for a limited time only, from Oct. 2 Oct. 31, at a price of $11.95 per serving. At Radio City, the limited-time-only legume pasta will be available from Sept. 25 Oct. 31, also at the same price.

For every dish of Red Lentil Penne with Sundried Tomato Pesto sold, Casa Barilla will donate one serving of dry pasta to a local charity, including Food Bank For New York City. Thug Kitchen's Cookbook will also be sold at the Casa Barilla locations during the promotion, 100% of the profit from the sales of the book donated as well.

The decision to begin serving legume pasta at its restaurants fits into Barilla's mission to bring to the world joyful, honest food, inspired by the Italian lifestyle and Mediterranean diet.

"This new pasta is all protein and no filler. It's so damn tasty with our sundried tomato pesto that you'll forget that it's actually good for you. And with the proceeds going to charity, you can do good while eating well," said a spokesperson for Thug Kitchen.
