Ken Jeong (Community) is set to produce and star in a new medical comedy for NBC. The show is based on Jeong's life as a licensed physician before joining the entertainment business.

For the original report, head on over to Deadline.

The series, DR. KEN, will be written by Jared Stern and produced by Sony Pictures TV, Davis Entertainment and Fox, alongside Jeong.

Jeong completed his M.D. at the University of North Carolina, as well as an internal medicine residency at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, before deciding to commit to comedy full-time.

Jeong currently stars as a regular in NBC's Community, which is coming up on its fifth, and potentially final, season. His film credits include Despicable Me, The Hangover, The Muppets, Zookeeper, Couples Retreat, Pineapple Express and more.
