The NY Times Arts Blog reports that CNN will cancel JOHN KING, USA, the political news program hosted by John King. The show will temporarily be replaced by an additional hour of “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” until the end of June.

King will maintain his position as a top campaign correspondent for the network through the 2012 election season. He performed a similar role for the 2008 presidential election.

Ken Jautz, the executive in charge of CNN commented, “This is John’s seventh presidential campaign, fourth with CNN, and making him available across our programming lineup allows us to better tap his skills and experience, especially on the ground reporting in major battleground states and among critical voting blocs."

JOHN KING, USA debuted in the spring of 2010. It has recently struggled to find an audience and suffered from declining ratings. The cable network is also under pressure from its parent company, Time Warner, to improve its programming schedule and ratings.
