ZAPtoit.com reports that the upcoming ninth season of CBS's long-running comedy How I Met Your Mother may not be its last, as previously reported.

The last episode of Season 8 finally revealed the mysterious woman (Broadway's Cristin Milioti) who will eventually become the wife of Ted. However in a recent interview with EW, show creator Carter Bays hinted that the story may not wrap up at the end of the new season.

"Comic-Con reminded us how many people really love the show," teased Bays. "And it would be a shame for the party to end next spring."

How I Met Your Mother begins its ninth season Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 on the CBS Television Network.

How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about Ted and how he fell in love. This season takes place over the course of Barney and Robin's wedding weekend, when the lives of the gang change dramatically. Ted is about to move to Chicago, Marshall and Lily are about to move to Rome, and Robin and Barney are about to become husband and wife. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.
