CBSN, the 24/7 digital streaming news network from CBS News, tonight will stream its latest CBSN ORIGINAL, PLAYING GOD exploring the real-life implications of a precise and powerful gene editing tool that can edit the 'flawed' genes present in crops, animals, and ultimately humans. The tool, called CRISPR, holds the revolutionary potential of curing genetic diseases and cancers, and it can also alter physical traits. CBSN's Adam Yamaguchi examines the applications and ethical implications surrounding genetic engineering and what the future may hold as tools like CRISPR become more accessible and affordable to people around the world.

"This kind of technology, it's like an atomic bomb." says Dr. Lai Liangxue, one of China's leading CRISPR researchers who runs several labs, including one responsible for mutant dogs. "If we use it to make electricity it's good. If we (humans) use it to make bombs, it's bad."
