CBS Tops Broadcast Networks for 2014 Midterm Election Coverage

CBS News is the #1 broadcast network for coverage of the 2014 midterm elections on Tuesday, Nov. 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

CBS News' primetime broadcast on the CBS Television Network was first in adults 25-54 (1.3/04) and viewers (5.41m).

CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Scott Pelley and CBS THIS MORNING co-host Norah O'Donnell led the primetime coverage. They were joined by:

  • Bob Schieffer, CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent and Anchor of FACE THE NATION
  • Charlie Rose, Co-Host of CBS THIS MORNING
  • Gayle King, Co-Host of CBS THIS MORNING
  • Anthony Mason, Co-Host of CBS THIS MORNING: Saturday
  • Bill Whitaker, 60 MINUTES Correspondent
  • Nancy Cordes, CBS News Congressional Correspondent
  • John Dickerson, CBS News Political Director
  • CBS News correspondents in battleground states around the country

In addition to the broadcast coverage, CBS News utilized its Twitter account @CBSPolitics to communicate all election projections and characterizations. CBS News used Twitter and other social media to introduce a new level of transparency into all CBS News political reporting and revealed internal guidance on competitive races as soon as the information was reportable.
