CBS Gives Put Pilot Commitment for Asian-Led Comedy from CRAZY RICH ASIANS Author Kevin Kwan

CBS has given a put pilot commitment to a comedy series co-created by "Crazy Rich Asians" author Kevin Kwan has received a put pilot commitment from CBS for an Asian-led comedy series, according to Variety.

The comedy, titled "The Emperor of Malibu," follows two very different families-one from Shanghai with NEW MONEY and one from the East coast of the U.S. with old money- that must learn to co-exist when their children get married.

Kwan will write and executive produce the series with David Sangalli. Michelle Nader, Christina Lee, and Danielle Stokdyk will also executive produce, with Warner Bros. Television producing.

Kwan's international best-selling debut novel "Crazy Rich Asians" was Kwan's debut novel and it became an international best-selling and was adapted into a film of the same name, which grossed over $232 million worldwide. He has released two more novels, "China Rich Girlfriend," in 2015, and "Rich People Problems" in 2017.
