Despite already having nearly one billion premieres over the first week of the new TV season, we are kicking off Tuesday's "But, Wait! What's on TV Tonight" picks with a brand new comedy with a very theatrical heritage. There's also a new show that teases a pair of very close potential siblings.

Every day, BWW TV World will bring you a handful of picks from across the TV landscape. So, if you have nothing to do each night, check in with us, and we will tell you the best ways to spend your primetime hours.

Tuesday, September 30th

SELFIE| 8:00-8:30pm |ABC
The series premiere of ABC's new sitcom SELFIE, starring Karen Gillan (DOCTOR WHO) and John Cho (HAROLD & KUMAR, SLEEPY HOLLOW) airs tonight. The story focuses on the relationship between Eliza Dooley and Henry Higgs, two very different people who learn about themselves through... hey, wait a minute... Ok, yes, this is a modern day take on PYGMALION/MY FAIR LADY, just with less cockney and more hashtags.

Major League Baseball Playoffs: Oakland Athletics vs. Kansas City Royals | 8:00-11:30pm | TBS
I know we promised to ease up on the sports picks, but this is the beginning of the MLB playoffs, and, for some reason, theatre people love baseball. Maybe it is the tradition, or the fact that each game has an 11:00 number sings "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," or maybe it's the fact that it always seems to take much longer than you think it should. Anyway, Lorde wrote her mega-hit "Royals" after seeing a picture of George Brett in his Kansas City Royals uniform; the last time KC was in the playoffs? 1985, when they were led by... Lorde... just kidding, George Brett.

NEW GIRL | 9:00-9:30pm | Fox
Despite that fact that everybody in the world seems to love Zooey Deschanel, NEW GIRL has been a wildly divisive comedy. However, you know you are doing something right when you can get comedy legend Rob Reiner to not only guest star, but to recur as the main character's father. This time Jess' dad is back, and he's bringing his new girlfriend, who also happens to be his daughter's arch-rival from high school. This could be interesting!

HAPPYLAND | 11:02-11:34pm | MTV
While it's been a long time since the "M" in MTV stood for "music," it very well might now mean "mature." On the heels of scripted shows like AWKWARD, that dealt with a girl pretending to be pregnant to stop rumors about herself, and FAKING IT that dealt with two girls pretending to be lesbians to be popular, MTV's newest show HAPPYLAND might have the most messed up premise of them all. The show kicks off with a revelation that two amusement park co-workers, who finally kiss after crushing hard on each other, just might be brother and sister... That makes me feel dirty just typing it...
