For November, expect laughter, tears and camaraderie as host Sofija Stefanovic welcomes guests reading "a letter to my could have been." DONNIE FRITTS W/ JOHN PAUL WHITE

Wednesday, November 4 at 9:30PM

$20

Donnie Fritts's Oh My Goodness, his most polished record to date, is an elevated departure from his funky Muscle Shoals sound but with his powerhouse songwriting. "People don't make records with 71 year-old guys," he says, his humility always sitting shotgun by his talent. Co-founder of Single Lock Records, John Paul White, formerly of the Grammy Award-winning duo The Civil Wars, befriended Fritts in 2013 when he asked him to play at the Muscle Shoals documentary premiere in Florence, AL, where White owns Sun Drop Studios. Later, White insisted they cut an album together. What began as a minimalist work - Fritts's raspy voice and his 1970's-era Wurlitzer - morphed into something richer and deeper. Oh My Goodness is a combination of fresh sound and honed talent backed by Nashville and Muscle Shoals legends and rising brilliants.

TOBY LIGHTMAN

Friday, November 6 at 9:30PM

$18

In a world of auto-tune, Toby Lightman's pure and soulful voice cuts through the noise. She "oozes spirituality, if not outright womanly sensuality..." said Billboard. From her major label debut in 2004 to her current album Every Kind of People, Lightman has mastered her own sophisticated urban pop. With each song, recording or collaboration, she continues to hone, craft and perfect her unique sound.

KAT EDMONSON

Saturday, November 7 at 7:30PM & Sunday, November 8 at 5:30PM & 7:30PM

$30

A stunningly sweet singer with a uniquely expressive voice, Kat Edmonson's music has a timeless sound. In a few short years, she has gone from singing in small rooms in her native Texas to concert halls and festivals around the world. Her 2009 debut, Take to the Sky, was filled with creative interpretations of standards and pop hits. Her brilliant 2012 follow-up, Way Down Low, featured both originals and covers in styles from pop and country to jazz and bossa nova. The Big Picture, her latest, builds upon her previous works, but offers even more of her writing, and more still of her unique sound. Edmonson draws from a wellspring of '50s and '60s pop, '70s AM radio, present-day pop-rock and movie soundtracks. The Big Picture is smart, sophisticated and fun and simultaneously classic and modern. A delicious batch of pop perfection, the dozen songs are tight, polished and more upbeat than anything she's done before.

LERA LYNN

Wednesday & Thursday, November 11 & 12 at 7:30PM

$25

Born in Houston, Texas, Nashville-based, Georgia-bred singer-songwriter, Lera Lynn's music may be hard to categorize, but that is likely why she appeals to so many. While the music business likes to wrap everything up in neat little packages, that isn't always possible. Lera's music has frequently been filed under "Americana", "Folk" and "Country." But those categorizations tell only part of the story. "I just want to stop thinking about music as a marketing campaign," Lera says. The most successful and lasting artists let inspiration steer them, not genre or marketing pitch. I'm just doing what moves me as it comes."

FRAZEY FORD

Wednesday, November 11 at 9:30PM

$18

The root of all soul music is freedom-sheer abandon. It's about luxuriating in the emotions that make us all human. No wonder singer Frazey Ford placed her ear to the earth and tapped into that lush tradition to give voice to her own stories on her newest release, Indian Ocean, an album about pain and dealing with tough truths but also about trust, love contrition and being bold. Ford's self-possession and passion puts flesh to the musical bones, and you hear a record hit the essence of Aretha's notion of R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

SEAN MCCONNELL / DAVID MAYFIELD

Friday, November 13 at 7:30PM

$15

Growing up in the Boston folk scene, Sean McConnell watched his parents play the songs of Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, David Wilcox, Harry Chapin, CSNY, James Taylor and more. McConnell soaked it all in, locking it away inside. Now, an artist in his own right, he travels the U.S. performing what he describes as "lyric-driven roots rock with soul." His live show is truly a dynamic experience - one moment reckless rock, and the next an intimate acoustic pin drop moment. Often backed by his four piece band, you can still find him solo on a stool with a guitar getting back to the basics. "It's all about the song. That never changes. It always starts with an acoustic guitar and a notepad. The lyrics are the point. The story is central," says McConnell.

If you've seen David Mayfield perform with The Avett Brothers, Jessica Lea Mayfield, or at Bonnaroo, you've caught the charisma, the heart and the comedy. Mayfield grew up playing bass and touring with his family's bluegrass band. As a teenager he established himself as a hot picker, collecting national awards for his dexterity on guitar and mandolin. His skills and personality brought him to bluegrass outfit Cadillac Sky, playing sold out shows with Mumford and Sons. Since then, he has toured almost non-stop. Conscious of being both a musician and an entertainer - something his father instilled in him at an early age - he makes an impression live. But it's the strength of his songwriting and musicianship, combined with that charm and personality that keep audiences consistently lining up to join the parade.

During her 2014 performance at Symphony Space, Classical Lite Magazine said "with her power, vocal clarity, and with a combination of glamour and grits, Tisera incorporates it all, deliciously waxing and waning, she is a jewel of an artist."

Joe's Pub consistently presents the best in live music and performance nightly, continuing its commitment to diversity, production values, community and artistic freedom. The organization also offers unique opportunities like New York Voices, an artist commissioning program that provides musicians the resources and tools needed to develop original theater works. Commissioned artists have included Ethan Lipton, Toshi Reagon, Bridget Everett, Allen Toussaint and more. In 2011, the Pub received a top-to-bottom renovation, leading to improved sightlines, expanded seating capacity and a new menu from acclaimed Chef Andrew Carmellini. With its intimate atmosphere and superior acoustics, Joe's Pub presents talent from all over the world as part of The Public's programming downtown at its Astor Place home, hosting approximately 800 shows and serving over 100,000 audience members annually.

The Public Theater, under the leadership of Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham, is the only theater in New York that produces Shakespeare, the classics, musicals, contemporary and experimental pieces in equal measure.Celebrating his 10th anniversary season at The Public, Eustis has created new community-based initiatives designed to engage audiences like Public Lab, Public Studio, Public Forum, Public Works, and a remount of the Mobile Shakespeare Unit. The Public continues the work of its visionary founder, Joe Papp, by acting as an advocate for the theater as an essential cultural force, and leading and framing dialogue on some of the most important issues of our day. Creating theater for one of the largest and most diverse audience bases in New York City for nearly 60 years, today the Company engages audiences in a variety of venues-including its landmark downtown home at Astor Place, which houses five theaters and Joe's Pub; the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, home to its beloved, Free Shakespeare in the Park; and the Mobile Unit, which tours Shakespearean productions for underserved audiences throughout New York City's five boroughs. The Public's wide range of programming includes free Shakespeare in the Park, the bedrock of the Company's dedication to making theater accessible to all; Public Works, a new initiative that is designed to cultivate new connections and new models of engagement with artists, audiences and the community each year; new and experimental stagings at The Public at Astor Place, including Public Lab; and a range of artist and audience development initiatives including its Public Forum series, which brings together theater artists and professionals from a variety of disciplines for discussions that shed light on social issues explored in Public productions. The Public Theater is located on property owned by the City of New York and receives annual support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; and in October 2012 the landmark building downtown at Astor Place was revitalized to physically manifest the Company's core mission of sparking new dialogues and increasing accessibility for artists and audiences, by dramatically opening up the building to the street and community, and transforming the lobby into a public piazza for artists, students, and audiences. Key elements of the revitalization included an expanded and refurbished lobby; the addition of a mezzanine level with a new restaurant lounge, The Library, designed by the Rockwell Group. The Public Theater is currently represented on Broadway by the Tony Award-winning Fun Home and Lin-Manuel Miranda's acclaimed American musical Hamilton. The Public has received 47 Tony Awards, 167 Obie Awards, 52 Drama Desk Awards, 48 Lortel Awards, 31 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 13 New York Drama Critics Awards, and four Pulitzer Prizes.
