Brian Stokes Mitchell to Guest Star on 'Ugly Betty'

Tony Award nominee Brian Stokes Mitchell will join the cast of ABC's 'Ugly Betty' for a guest starring role as Vanessa Williams' ex in an upcoming episode, TVGuide.com is reporting. Mitchell will play the role of Don, a simply guy who is the antithesis of Wilhelmina.  It is reported that Mitchell's role may be recurring. The episode will air sometime in March.

Mitchell has appeared on Broadway in Mail (1988), an all-black revival of George Gershwin's Oh, Kay! (1990), Jelly's Last Jam (1992), Kiss of the Spider Woman (1993), Ragtime (1998), the 1999 revival of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate, King Hedley II (2001) and Man of La Mancha (2002). Television and film appearances include the singing voice of Jethro in the animated feature The Prince of Egypt (1998), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a seven-year stint on Trapper John, M.D. and Frasier.

'Ugly Betty' stars America Ferrera as Betty Suarez, Eric Mabius as Daniel Meade, Tony Plana as Ignacio, Ana Ortiz as Hilda, Judith Light as Claire Meade, Becki Newton as Amanda, Michael Urie as Marc, Mark Indelicato as Justin, Daniel Eric Gold as Matt Hartley and Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater.

'Ugly Betty' airs Wednesdays at 10/9 central on the ABC Television Network. The show is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning.
