Attention men who are living apart from their wives in the midst of some ridiculous pseudo marriage: if a strange woman answers your phone when your wife calls, do NOT hop on a plane and fly cross country to see your Mrs. It makes you look suspicious, becomes fuel for gossip, and if your wife is Meredith Grey, it'll lead to her killing a patient (bye bye, Streak). You say, "I came home because we're in trouble." She hears, "I came home to apologize for having sex with my underling."

Throughout the episode, there were several flashbacks that brought specific questions to mind: Why were you looking at him like that Renee (Scottie Thompson), you potential home wrecker? Why are you looking at her like that, Derek, you married father of two? What was with that double take when you saw that he was calling, Renee? Why are you grabbing his hand and asking him if he really has to leave? Why aren't you yanking your hand away, Derek? Sigh. Whine. Why are you two kissing? Why are you kissing another woman who was supposed to be learning from you, Derek? You've already played this role.

Owen's mom (Debra Mooney) fell in the shower, but no worries! Her attractive and muchmuchmuch younger boyfriend, John (Drew Rausch), was there to whisk her to the hospital so their relationship could be awkwardly revealed to her son. Ginger Doc's reaction to this May/December romance was only slightly more extreme than when Ben found out his brother was transitioning.

Eventually Owen did what we all do when our parents start dating someone younger than we are, and grossing us out; he told her John was using her and that she was being a gullible old fool. She tried to end things with him, and it was kind of sad. She had some sort of attack while she was breaking up with him. I think it was her heart shattering. John was willing to acquiesce to her request, but only after he knew for sure that she was okay. Owen realized he was being a monster and let love do its thing.

Andrea (Crista Flanagan), a patient who thought she was just suffering from headaches and nose bleeds, actually had some sort of creature hiding in her nasal cavity. Jo bogarted the case, though she could've sold it to Stephanie, who was in desperate need of hours and was attempting cheap bribery. I'm glad she was creepy and kept they case to herself. It was the most interesting I'd found her in weeks. The creature ended up being a leech that Jo kept and named "Herbie."

Alex asked Meredith to consult on one of his cases, which was a terrible idea, because Meredith was only at the hospital to avoid dealing with her potentially philandering husband. She didn't consult with him as much as tell the young patient, Danny (Alexander Walsh), about a risky procedure that Alex thought he was too weak for. Danny was done feeling like crap and made an impassioned demand to have the surgery. His mother begrudgingly agreed. He was her entire life, and all he wanted was a life of his own; a life he lost on the table.

Meredith blamed the death on Alex's second guessing and lack of faith in her in the operating room. Alex told her to deal with the reality that she was actually mad at Derek, which was fine, but leave the Crazy out of Surgery. He forced a hug on her. I think she hugged Cristina once.

It took a kiss from another woman to remind Derek that he didn't want to live without Meredith. He loved her. DC wasn't everything; she was. So yes, my favorite silver fox kissed some wretched random woman, but he looked at me Meredith with those eyes, called Post It and all is well.

For now.

I didn't check the GREY'S ANATOMY Facebook page tonight to see if this episode was as hated as the last few. I enjoyed it. I was uneasy in a way that I hadn't felt in some time. May this mean the beginning of better stories for the show this season.
