I don't want to oversell it, but was this the best episode of SHAMELESS of the season. My goodness with these performances. I'm so grateful William H. Macy was finally given a SAG award for his performance. The rest of this cast needs to be acknowledged as well.

After last week when we FINALLY saw the long awaited reunion (?) of Fiona with Jimmy, she greeted him as I had hoped; a punch in the face. I love Jimmy, but he sure deserved that. Sure, he was chained to a pipe and forced into slave labor and suffered from Malaria, but who cares? He broke her heart!

However, the reunion is going to have to wait when she receives a phone call from Mickey regarding Ian's impromptu kidnapping episode. Yup, Ian is on the run and he has baby, Yevgeny with him. Poor Ian. He really does need help.

And our sweet friends, Vee and Kev finally decide that it's time to take a break. Of all the couples on this show, I really thought that this was the one that was in for the long haul. It just goes to show that children changes any relationship. I'm hoping this is a temporary setback, I don't like the thought of these two apart.

Frank is finally running out of luck with his lifestyle as his body starts rejecting his liver. The doctor informs him that he needs to stop relying on his family and has to take care of himself or he will die. I feel as though he will not hear this dire message. Sammy takes on the role of Gallagher mom and imposes a curfew that does not go over well with the young Gallaghers.

At high school, Debbie has a new reputation after the video of her beating up the popular girls goes viral. Unfortunately, that means everyone wants to fight her. Thank goodness new crush, Derek, is still jumping to her defense.

Jimmy keeps following Fiona around trying to find out if she'll be able to forgive him. But Fiona has to deal with Jimmy, her family, her new husband who is revealed to the family accidentally by Jimmy. She takes out her frustrations on Sean when he tells her that he reported Jackie's OD to her Parole Officer. I am not sure Ian is the only one in the middle of a breakdown. Jimmy tells her he loves her over and over again and she finally gives in and kisses him and sleeps in with him. The next morning Gus shows up and the family meets him, even though Jimmy is still asleep in her bed upstairs. Fiona sleeps with Jimmy again the next night but kicks him out and goes and crawls into bed with Gus. Angela shows up at the diner again and asks Fiona her intentions because she needs to know how to proceed with her business partnership with Jimmy.

But the more important matter at hand is rescuing Ian who is on a full psychotic break. Lip, Debbie and Carl take off with Mickey when Ian is captured by police after leaving the baby alone in a car. They meet up with Fiona and they all escort him to the hospital. In one of the most heartbreaking scenes I have ever seen on this show, they all individually say goodbye as Ian commits himself to the mental ward. Mickey asks the nurse if he can go in with him, which he, of course, can't.

I'm overwhelmed with the performances of Cameron Monaghan and Noel Fisher. They are just out of this world good. And is Mickey showing signs of growing up a bit? He was genuinely emotional when he got Yevgeny back as well as blatantly admitting to the cop that he was Ian's partner. A pivotal moment for Mickey the proved his deep love for Ian.

I just love watching Lip step up into the patriarchal role in this family. He's looking out for Fiona with Jimmy, he threatens Gus to be nice to her, he reassures Mickey that he did everything right as Ian's boyfriend all while putting himself through college.

And Fiona, Fiona, Fiona... will she ever do the smart thing? But then, what is the smart thing? Jimmy is clearly her true love but that doesn't mean that he's the right thing for her. And poor Gus, it's always the nice guys that get the shaft isn't it? But I understand, Fiona, Jimmy is reprehensible and I am rooting for them. Ugh, I'm just as bad as they are.

As usual, halfway through the season everything is chaotic and wonderful in the South Side of Chicago. It's always at this point in the season where I start dreading that it'll be coming to an end soon. We are on the down slope toward the finale, kids. I'm as sad as you are.
