With a new slew of TV shows recently debuting, I'm here to give you a preview of the brand-new CW dramedy JANE THE VIRGIN. The hour-long show, based on the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane.

When Jane was a little girl, her grandmother Alba (played by Ivonne Coll) instilled in her the great importance of keeping her virginity sacred, and Jane took that very seriously. Now as a twenty-three year old, Jane has a good job at a hotel and has found a wonderful boyfriend in Michael (Brett Dier).

They have been together for two years and Micheal may not understand his girlfriend's values, but he is respectful enough to not push boundaries. Things seem to be going swimminly in Jane's life-until one fateful trip to the doctor's office. While Jane goes to her appointment for a pap smear, due to an overwhelmingly busy doctor's mistake, she is accidentally inseminated. The show follows Jane's life, and the lives of those around her, after that fateful doctor's appointment.

The cast also includes Andrea Navedo as Jane's immature mother Xiomara, Justin Baldoni as the owner of the hotel Jane works at, and Yael Grobglas as Petra, the hotel owner's wife.

This new series is one that I'm really interested in simply because of its out of the box premise. The unique storyline opens itself up to countless characters and plots that aren't seen on television often. Also, JANE THE VIRGIN looks like it is going to be as fun as it is heart-warming, and I think that is the kind of show an audience can rally behind. I'm excited to see where this show goes.

I also really want to see Gina Rodrieguz in action. As evidenced by the preview below, she is already getting rave reviews for her portrayal of Jane. In fact, most of the cast is new to me, so I'll like getting to form opinions on them as well. I'm already a fan of Ivonne Coll, so I know that I will enjoy seeing her on my television screen every week. Watch the official preview here:

JANE THE VIRGIN premieres Monday, October 13, 2014 at 9/8c on The CW. I will be recapping the show every week, so come back to BWW TV World after each episode, and always feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
