On the 9th episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, "The Road Trip," Jake invites his girlfriend, Sophia, and Amy's boyfriend, Teddy, to join them at a Bed and Breakfast. This is Jake's attempt to add some romance to their work trip.Meanwhile, Rosa will not admit to Gina and Terry that she is sick, and Charles is very eager to help Captain Holt with his anniversary breakfast. Read my full recap below, but beware of SPOILERS.

Jake and Boyle are going undercover as longshoremen for a case. Jake of course created a crazy identity for himself. On their way out, Terry said the lead of their smuggling ring turned himself in, so they have no need to go undercover. However, Holt gives them 10 minutes to live out their alter egos.

The precinct is transfering a prisioner upstate. Amy and Jake are driving up a day early and staying the night. Jake lets Amy know he invited Sophia to the B&B. Jake invites Teddy when Amy walks away, so he can surprise her. Holt invited Boyle into his office for a food related question. Holt tells him it's his anniversary with Kevin tomorrow and that he needs help cooking him breakfast. Boyle agrees, of course. Gina and Terry realize Rosa is sick, but she's unwilling to admit it. Up at the B&B, Jake meets up with Sophia, and then he tells Amy that he invited Teddy. Unfortunately, Amy was planning on breaking up with Teddy and really doesn't want to see him. "Oh, nooooooooooo," is right, Jake.

Amy is upset that Jake invited Teddy, and tells him that there is no spark between them anymore. Jake promises to help Amy break up with Teddy since it's his fault. Terry tells Rosa he'll help with her perp since she's sick, but she refuses to admit she's sick. Terry and Gina decide to go behind her back to help her.

Jake tells Sophia about the predicament he's gotten into, and she understands thankfully. Back at the precinct, Boyle gives Holt food samples, but he is unable to describe the tastes the way he wishes. At the B&B, Amy is panicking about having to break up with Teddy. Jake tells her that the four of them will dine together to keep things unromantic. Sophia tells Amy the safe word is "Jericho," and Jake also tells Amy to tell him she's feeling bad after dinner and wants to go to bed early in order to avoid any break-up talk. However, Amy is having a difficult time "playing it cool," around Teddy.

At dinner, Jake and Sophia try to make the evening as unromantic as possible. Teddy, however, is being really sweet, which is making it really difficult for everyone. Amy shouts out that she wants to break up, and everything becomes super awkward. Back at the 99, Rosa is all over the place because of the cold medicine she chugged. Terry and Gina put their plan in motion, where Gina distracts Rosa while Terry questions her perp. Gina, being Gina, locks Rosa in a closet. Boyle shows Holt how to cook scrambled eggs, but Holt doesn't understand the art of cooking, much to Boyle's dismay. Boyle makes Holt hand over his spatula, and Holt calls the project futile and that he's just going to make Kevin burnt toast.

Amy tells Teddy that there isn't a spark between them, and that he's boring. Teddy points out that Jake told Amy he liked her before he went undercover, and that's a reason their relationship isn't working. Amy tells Jake she did like him back, and Sophia and Teddy leave the table. Jake and Amy are left sitting there awkwardly, before they both abruptly walk away. Yikes.

Jake goes back to his room, and tells Sophia that he isn't into Amy. Back at the precinct, Holt tells Boyle that he read his blogs and that he learned that food tells a story. He shows Boyle the food he made Kevin, food that held a special memory. Boyle tries his food and realizes he's a natural chef. Terry and Gina go to check on Rosa in the locked closet, but Rosa breaks the glass and gets herself out. Terry tells Rosa he got her perp to name the gigglepig supplier. Terry tells Rosa that she has to admit she's sick, and Gina makes her a care package. On the way to drop off the prisioner, Jake tells Amy that things with Sophia are good, which makes Amy noticeably down. The episode ends with Jake making jokes about Amy liking him before, and Amy about to crash the car as a joke.

So Amy did have feelings for Jake! Well, still does, by the look of it. These feelings are revealed not by choice, however, because Teddy made the truth known after Amy broke up with him. This caused some awkward tension between everyone, especially Jake and Amy. They do get back to normal by the end of the episode, but it was definitely clear that Amy was upset that Jake and Sophia worked things out and that he said he didn't have feelings for Amy anymore. This episode is definitely setting up for a Jake/Amy romance later this season, I just know it. Especially since Eva Longoria has only one more guest starring role on the show, it's clear Sophia and Jake won't be lasting much longer.

Speaking of Eva Longoria, I think her character Sophia has been a great addition to the show. Her chemistry with Samberg is great, and she is a great match for Jake. I couldn't stop laughing when they had scenes in their room at the B&B, their reactions to the creepy dolls was too much.

Continuing this season's model of pairing characters that didn't get much one-on-one time together in the first season, Boyle and Holt had a great story arc in this episode. I enjoyed watching the enthusiastic Boyle attempt to teach Holt, who has no sense of excitement whatsoever, how to cook, and cook with feeling. In the end, Holt learned something from Boyle, and actually turned out to be a good cook, which made Boyle excited to share something in common with Holt for once. I hope to see a crazy cooking episode with them in the future.

Rosa finally showed some weakness, even if it was involuntary. In my opinion, watching her hopped up on cold medicine was the funniest moment of tonight's episode. It was nice to see Terry and Gina care about Rosa's health, and help her admit that she can get sick every now and then.

Favorite Moments from "The Road Trip"

Boyle- "Until now all we had in common was our bank."

Sophia- "I got us the room with a thousand dolls." Jake- "Sounds creepy."

Amy to Jake- "You poured blue soda all over my life."

Jake- "Sophia does not care about the cloud at all."

Holt- "I want a sandwich, I make a sandwich, I eat a sandwich."

Teddy- "I got the thrills for the pills."

Jake- "Sometimes you have to rip off the band-aid and let the scab bleed all over the place."
