The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today opened for entries for the British Academy Games Awards in 2014, celebrating the very best games and talent of the year, whilst announcing that this year's entry period will be extended by an additional three months to 11 November 2013.

The Awards, presented in 2014, will consist of 16 categories, including British Game, the category introduced last year, and the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award in association with Dare To Be Digital, which recognises and rewards emerging talent.

Following its successful introduction last year, complimentary entry will be offered to entrants for their first game entered once again, provided they do so before Monday 21 October 2013. More information on the entry process, rules and guidelines can be found at www.bafta.org/games.

Harvey Elliott, Chairman of BAFTA's Games Committee, said: "By extending the entry period for this year's Awards, we're allowing developers more time to campaign for their games and make sure that up-and-coming developers have every opportunity to showcase their work. Last year we saw an encouraging rise in the level of new talent entering their games, and we look forward to seeing this continue."

To coincide with the Awards opening for entries, BAFTA is hosting an informal networking event for games professionals this evening at its headquarters at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, London, attended by members of the Games Committee. To book, visit http://bafta.ticketsolve.com.
