Amazon Developing Female Superhero Series, DEADTOWN
Amazon Studios is developing Deadtown from Entertainment One and Grey Matter Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series is based on The Refrigerator Monologues, a novella by Catherynne M. Valente. Shauna Cross is adapting the book for the series.
The Refrigerator Monologues centers on five women who die after crossing paths with male superheroes - or, rather, they're "fridged," killed as a plot device to offer motivation to the hero. The five meet in a purgatory called Deadtown and decide to reclaim control of their own stories, discovering their own powers in the process.
Cross will executive produce Deadtown with Valente, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard and Cliff Roberts.
