People.com reports that mourners gathered today for the funeral of late actor James Gandolfini. The morning service was held at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Among those who were expected to speak was Sopranos creator and close friend David Chase.

Stars from stage and screen arrived at the Church to remember the three-time Emmy winner. Among the attendees were Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Thomas, Dick Cavett, Steve Buscemi, Aida Turturro, who played Gandolfini's sister in "The Sopranos," and NJ Governor Chris Christie. Also at the 90-minute service, led by Rev. Dr. James A. Kowalski were Edie Falco, Lorraine Bracco, Dominic Chianese, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Joe Pantoliano.

Yesterday, a private wake for close friends and family was held for Gandolfini at the Robert Spearing Funeral Home in Park Ridge, New Jersey.

This week, Broadway theaters dimmed their lights in tribute to the late actor who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2009 for his performance in "God of Carnage."

Gandolfini died of a heart attack last Wednesday while vacationing with his 13-year-old son, Michael, in Rome. He was 51.
