Alec Baldwin Drops Out of JOKER Film

Alec Baldwin told USA Today that he'd be dropping out of the Joker origin story film starring Joaquin Phoenix.

"I'm no longer doing that movie," he told the outlet. "I'm sure there are 25 guys who can play that part."

Baldwin had signed on to play Batman's father, Thomas Wayne.

Baldwin also cited "scheduling" issues for the reason why he was exiting the role.

Also starring in the film is Robert De Niro, who will be portraying a talk-show host who plays a part in driving Phoenix's character to go mad. Also set to be in the film are Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron.

The film will delve into how the Joker became a criminal mastermind and is written and directed by Todd Phillips.

Baldwin is currently nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor for playing Donald Trump on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
