Abbie Cornish Lands Roles in 'Dark Fields' & Madonna-Helmed 'W.E'

Actress Abbie Cornish has landed roles in two highly anticipated films, reports Variety. Cornish will play the female lead in 'Dark Fields', opposite Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, and she will also star in 'W.E.', a period piece based on King Edward VIII's romance with Wallis Simpson, co-written by Madonna and Alex Keshinian. Madonna is also slated to direct 'W.E'.

A native of Australia, Abbie Cornish gained international recognition with 'Somersault', a role for which she won the Film Critics Circle of Australia's Best Actress in a Lead Role, the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, the Inside Film Award for Best Actress, and the Best Breakthrough Performance Award at the Miami Film Festival. Other film credits include 'Candy' opposite Heath Ledger, 'A Good Year', 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age', 'Stop-Loss', and 'Everything Goes'. Cornish also appeared in various television series including 'Water Rats', 'Life Support', 'White Collar Blue' and 'Outriders'.
