E! News reports that Aaron Sorkin has issued an apology to Apple CEO Tim Cook over negative comments he made about the company.

The screenwriter is promoting Steve Jobs, a new biopic he penned about late Apple co-founder and the second big screen film about him in two years. Cook had appeared to be less than enthusiastic about it, saying on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT earlier this month that while he hasn't seen any of the films, he thinks "a lot of people are trying to be opportunistic," adding, "I hate this. It's not a great part of our world."

Sorkin responded this week at a round table press junket for his new movie.

"Nobody did this movie to get rich,"The Hollywood Reporter quoted him as saying. "Secondly, Tim Cook should really see the movie before he decides what it is."

He then unleashed what many people online, including THE FLASH actor Grant Gustin, called a...ah yes, that would be a "burn."

"Third, if you've got a factory full of children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour you've got a lot of nerve calling someone else opportunistic," he added.

On Saturday, Sorkin addressed the issue again. "You know what, I think that Tim Cook and I probably both went a little too far," he told E! NEWS exclusively. "And I apologize to Tim Cook. I hope when he sees the movie, he enjoys it as much as I enjoy his products."

Cook and Apple have not commented on his remarks.

The Steve Jobs film stars Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen and was directed by Danny Boyle. The movie is set for release on Oct. 9.
