AMC's HELL ON WHEELS: The Complete Series & More Coming to DVD Today

This November, 1st it's the end of the line for AMC's acclaimed epic western series with two final Home Entertainment collections - HELL ON WHEELS: SEASON FIVE, VOLUME 2 - THE FINAL EPISODES and HELL ON WHEELS: THE COMPLETE SERIES

Credited for helping to modernize the Western genre when it premiered in 2011, the top-rated, critically acclaimed AMC mainstay, HELL ON WHEELS, reached the end of the line when its final episode aired this past July. Across five captivating seasons, the lavishly produced series tells the story of post-Civil War America focusing on Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount), a Confederate soldier who sets out to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who killed his wife. When his journey takes him west to Hell on Wheels, a lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the transcontinental railroad, Bohannon finds himself a stranger in a strange land.

Chronicling a potent turning point in our nation's history, HELL ON WHEELS documents the railroad's engineering and construction, as well as institutionalized corruption, the rich history of Chinese workers and the plight of newly emancipated African-Americans during Reconstruction, ultimately showing viewers, week in and week out, just how uncivilized the business of civilization can be.

In HELL ON WHEELS: SEASON FIVE , VOLUME 2 - THE FINAL EPISODES (2 discs; Blu-ray/$39.98srp + DVD/$29.98srp), Bohannon finds himself in the mountain town of Truckee, Calif., home to the Central Pacific Railroad. This rough and tumble railroad town teems with thousands of Chinese workers, foreign in language, culture and traditions. Despite the challenges of corralling his new workforce, Cullen leads the Herculean effort to tunnel through the Sierra Nevada Mountains, sometimes achieving only inches a day in the race to complete the first Transcontinental Railroad. Across the final seven episodes, the push to finish brings with it a reckoning for Bohannon and the men standing in his path: the bloodthirsty Swede (Christopher Heyerdahl); the mercenary Chang (Byron Mann); and the rapacious Thomas Durant (Colm Meaney). And while the railroad's completion is certain, who and what will survive when the golden SPIKE is finally planted remains in question - with no one more at risk than Bohannon himself.
