ABC's WORLD NEWS Ranks #1 in Key Demo for Monday and Tuesday

For the week of June 16, 2014, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 6.979 million Total Viewers and a 1.5 rating/6 share/1.793 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "World News" improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%) - 6.901 million and 1.729 million respectively, on w/o 6/17/13. In fact, "World News" has turned in year-to-year gains in both measures for the 4th consecutive week and in 5 of the last 6.
"World News" ranked No. 1 twice during the week in Adults 25-54, leading "NBC Nightly News" by 78,000 demo viewers on Monday (1.842 million vs. 1.764 million) and by 112,000 demo viewers on Tuesday (1.998 million vs. 1.886 million). "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" by double digits week-to-week in both Total Viewers (-14% - 1.013 million vs. 1.175 million) and Adults 25-54 (-67% - 34,000 vs. 103,000). "World News" slashed more than three-quarters of its year-to-year Adult 25-54 margin with "NBC Nightly News" (-80% - 34,000 vs. 172,000). Season to date, "World News" is up versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+5%), delivering its most-watched season in 6 years and best news demo number in 3 years - since the 2007-08 and the 2010-11 seasons, respectively.
