According to Deadline.com, Sony Pictures TV is bringing in veteran writer-producer Steven Maeda in the expectation of receiving a full first season pick up for it's freshman drama, PAN AM, which airs on the ABC network.

Maeda will join series creator/executive producer Jack Orman and director/executive producer Tommy Schlamme. While ABC has not yet determined the fate of PAN AM, word is that the network has been pleased with the show's results thus far and plans several upcoming promotional events.

Though the show's ratings have been modest in key demographic groups, it gets a great deal of DVR viewers and is popular with advertisers. ABC is waiting to receive more information on the potential "back nine" episodes before making a final decision on the show's fate.

PAN AM stars Christina Ricci ("Penelope") as Maggie, Margot Robbie ("Neighbours") as Laura, Michael Mosley ("Justified") as Ted, Karine Vanasse ("Polytechnique") as Colette, Mike Vogel ("The Help," "Blue Valentine") as Dean and Kelli Garner ("Going the Distance") as Kate.
