As reported on The Hollywood Reporter, the ABC fairytale drama ONCE UPON A TIME has been acquired by the British network Channel 5 and will begin airing in that country this spring.

The series, from Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, tells the story of Emma Swan, a woman who is believed to be the long-lost daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. She is tracked down by her abandoned son in the modern world which serves as her safe haven from the Evil Queen. In the town of Storybrooke, Emma encounters other strange citizens who appear to have fairytale background stories. The series stars Jennifer Morrison and Robert Carlyle

Paul Fagan, head of acquisitions at Channel 5 commented, “There’s no living happily ever after here – these are fairytales as you’ve never seen them before. “Once Upon A Time is a magical and mysterious addition to our 2012 schedule on Channel 5.”
