ABC's MADOFF Mini-Series Closes with Solid Numbers on Thursday

Opposite all-original series sweep competition from 8:00-10:00 p.m. (CBS' comedy block/Fox's "American Idol"/NBC's dramas), Part 2 of ABC's original movie "Madoff" delivered the Net's best numbers in the 2-hour time period since its high-rated New Year's Eve coverage (12/31/15) with Total Viewers (6.7 million), Adults 25-54 (1.5/4) and Adults 18-49 (1.0/3). And excluding New Year's Eve, it was ABC's strongest performance in the slot in nearly 3 months - since 11/19/15.

"Madoff - Part 2" built from its first to second hour in Total Viewers (6.6 million to 6.7 million), Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 to 1.1/3) and Adults 25-54 (1.4/4 to 1.6/4).

"Madoff: After the Fall" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 6.7 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49):
In the 10:00 p.m. hour, the ABC special "Madoff: After the Fall" built on its lead-in with key Adults and won its hour over CBS' "Elementary" and NBC's "Shades of Blue" in Total Viewers (6.7 million), Adults 25-54 (1.7/5) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/4). Like its lead-in, "Madoff: After the Fall" earned ABC's best results in the time period since November (11/19/15), excluding New Year's Eve.

Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.

A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 48% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate Nielsen measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
