ABC Owned TV Stations Reimagine Local News Apps with Viewer-Centric User Experience

ABC Owned Stations Group is updating its industry leading local news apps to focus on even more robust video offerings and user settings that allow for greater control and customization. Primary app features include:

- My News: For the first time, viewers can choose which topics and locations they are most interested in following.

- Personalized Alerts: Viewers can opt-in to receive alerts for their topics and locations.

- Watch Live Video: Exclusive live video streams, including live news broadcasts, are now prominently featured and are available to play as users navigate through other news content. Viewers can easily switch between live streams.

- Top News: The day's biggest stories and breaking news autoplay upon opening the app.

- Explore: The feature dives deeper into topics like major sporting, entertainment and weather-related events. Access up to 15 different locations.

- Weather: The app will continue to dedicate a significant amount of coverage to the best in breaking and ongoing news about weather conditions.

"This is our boldest refresh to date, designed and modernized for the mobile news consumer," said Wendy McMahon, recently announced president, ABC Owned TV Stations Group. "With 'My News,' viewers can have a personalized local news experience, programming a feed and opting into alerts around the issues and areas that are most important to them. The video offerings are also more robust - enabling our audiences to always be connected to the local brands and content they trust."

ABC Owned TV Stations include WABC-TV, New York; KABC-TV, Los Angeles; WLS-TV, Chicago; WPVI-TV Philadelphia; KGO-TV, San Francisco; KTRK-TV, Houston; WTVD-TV, Raleigh-Durham; and KFSN-TV, Fresno.
