12 MONKEYS Showrunner Terry Matalas Sells Drama to CBS

Terry Matalas, the showrunner for "12 Monkeys" on Syfy, has sold a drama to CBS, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The potential series, "Apex," is in development at the broadcast network. It revolves around the daughter of a notorious serial killer who returns to work hunting down murders and deviants for the FBI years after living an inconspicuous suburban life.

Matalas will write and executive produce the drama with Sony Pictures Television-based John FOX and John Davis. Davis Entertainment will produce the show.

Matalas worked on "12 Monkeys" for four season and he has recently exited his overall deal with Universal Cable Productions, has fielded multiple showrunning offers but instead has opted to focus on developing his own projects.

Matalas' previous writing credits include Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Terra Nova.
