IL TABARRO:

Giorgetta wife of Michele, barge owner carrying merchandise through the Seine in Paris, is attracted by Luigi a port worker who is hired by her husband. She is tired of living in a boat as she is still an attractive woman looking for a different type of life. Michele has realized the attraction between the two and plan to kill Luigi. That same evening Michele grabs him, forces him to admit his love for Giorgetta, and strangles him, then conceals the body in his cloak. Giorgetta reappears on deck to apologize to Michele, who throws open his cloak to reveal Luigi's dead body.

GIANNI SCHICCHI:

Gianni Schicchi, a classical ingenious comedy, combines elements of Puccini's modern style of harmonic dissonance with lyrical passages reminiscent of Rossini, and it has been praised for its inventiveness and imagination. The story is located in Florence 14th Century. A cunning Gianni Schicchi is a character with the convincing ability to - as a man who "knows it all" - find his way out to become instantly wealthy by changing the Will from the dying Buoso in his favor instead of the anxious family members who hoped receiving part of the Buoso's wealth.

This opera is the third and final part of Puccini's Il trittico (The Triptych)-three one-act operas with contrasting themes, best known for its popular aria, "O mio babbino caro".
