The Yale Club of Chicago presents "Gershwin in Blue: A George and Ira Gershwin Songbook Celebration," Wednesday, February 26, 8 p.m. at the Jazz Showcase, featuring vocalists Ava Logan and Charles Thomas.
The Yale Club of Chicago returns to the historic Jazz Showcase with Gershwin in Blue: A George and Ira Gershwin Songbook Celebration. Join Chicago jazz vocalists and Yale alumni Ava Logan, Charles Thomas, and a powerhouse rhythm section of Chicago's top instrumentalists for an evening of classic American popular song, including "They All Laughed," "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," "S'Wonderful," "They Can't Take That Away from Me," and a selection of arrangements from the Gershwin masterpiece Porgy and Bess. Don't miss one of the year's most memorable musical events! Ava Logan's appearances include starring roles as Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson with Black Ensemble Theater, and solo jazz appearances in Chicago, LA, Paris, Rome, and Moscow. At Yale, she was a member of Proof of the Pudding, and a founding member of Whim 'n Rhythm, an all-female a cappella group that is the counterpart of the all-male Whiffenpoofs.Kurt Schweitz, bass (Chicago Jazz Festival, Rockford Symphony)
