Weezer Releases 'The Black Album'

If 2018 was a whirlwind year for Los Angeles band Weezer, 2019 is already shaping up to be one of their best -- today, the band releases Weezer (The Black Album), their highly anticipated album of original songs following 2017's Grammy-nominated Pacific Daydream. To celebrate the Black Album's release into world, the band stopped by Good Morning America and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, in addition to playing secret shows for both Sirius XM and iHeart Radio listeners.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL -- following an incredible SNL skit about the band at the end of 2018, Weezer released a record of covers -- Weezer (The Teal Album) -- in January of this year; the collection has already been streamed well over a hundred million times on streaming services. It was also announced this week that The Teal Album will be released on special teal-colored vinyl for Record Store Day.

On March 9th, Weezer heads out on a second leg of last summer's wildly awesome tour with Pixies, which will include a stop headlining NYC's Madison Square Garden with special guests TV On The Radio. The band will also be returning to Coachella for the first time since 2005, hitting the mainstage this April. All dates are below.

Weezer (The Black Album) was produced by TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, with whom the band worked for the first time. The album's songs were entirely written on piano by frontman Rivers Cuomo for the first time in Weezer history, creating some of the most satisfyingly awesome songs in the entire hits-filled Weezer catalogue. With band members switching up instruments in the studio, and choruses filtered through Sitek's own encyclopedic musical references of everything from Gorillaz to Can to Pink Floyd, Weezer (The Black Album) is the bold next step in the winning streak of acclaimed albums they've released since 2014.
