Tim Baker Releases ALL HANDS Video, Solo Debut Out 4/19

Forever Overhead, the debut album from Canadian singer-songwriter Tim Baker, features eleven songs that center on kinship. The newest track from the album "All Hands" is a blissful indie-folk song that celebrates those personal connections. It is a thank you letter to all who have helped him along his winding road.

"All Hands is a song about my past," says Baker. "About growing up in the west end of St. John's, and knowing I'll get back there someday. The title is an expression we use all the time there to refer to 'everyone'. And so for the video I wanted to see if I could show all of the people behind the song, behind the album, behind the "solo" Tim Baker - my everyone, so to speak."

"So it's sort a montage of teachers, friends, family, colleagues, supporters - people that were instrumental in the making of the record, and the making of me. Of course we couldn't actually fit everyone in exactly, but I went to five different cities over three weeks and got as many as I could. I want to thank all hands for making time for it, all the different camera operators, and especially my director Jordan Canning (Schitt's Creek, Burden of Truth, Baroness Von Sketch Show) once again. Yes, I just want to thank everyone."

Rolling Stone recently featured "All Hands" as one of their "10 Best Country and Americana Songs To Hear Now," noting, "The former frontman of Hey Rosetta! kicks off his solo career with this indie-folk anthem about his coming-of-age in Newfoundland. It's nostalgic and nuanced, with a chorus that nods to Jackson Browne and a buoyant, bubbling verse worthy of Feist."

PRE-ORDER Forever Overhead

For his debut solo album, Tim Baker, formerly the songwriter and lead vocalist of beloved Canadian indie rock band Hey Rosetta!, took his inspiration from '70s songwriters, like Jackson Browne and Randy Newman, whose music filled his childhood home, and from his contemporaries (Feist, Bahamas, Andy Shauf). The resulting blend of piano ballads, pop grooves, and ebullient folk-rock is straightforward with curious undertones that provides a timeless backdrop for Baker's vibrant lyricism.
