The 2018 Ignacy Paderewski Gala to Feature The Best Of Chopin And Paderewski

Join us on a special occasion to mark the start of celebrations for the 100th Anniversary of Poland regaining its Independence. This unique gala concert features accomplished pianists, Chopin specialists, international competition winners, performing renowned works of Chopin and Paderewski. The tribute concert to Paderewski, taking place on the anniversary of his last performance at Carnegie Hall will be presented by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York together with the Gazeta Polska Community of America foundation. The concert will be held at Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall on February 21, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. The concert features Kevin Kenner, Szymon Nehring, ?ukasz Krupi?ski, and Marek Bracha.

Kevin Kenner has been praised as "one of the finest American pianists to come along in years" (Chicago Tribune). The year 1990 brought him world-wide recognition thanks to three prestigious awards: the top prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the International Terrence Judd Award in London, and third prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow. His recordings include albums of works by Chopin, Ravel, Schumann, Beethoven, Piazzolla, and Paderewski, the latter two having won the prize for best recording of the year from the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry in 2006 and 2012.

Szymon Nehring is one of the most gifted and promising pianists of the younger generation in Poland. In 2014 he won First Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam International Competition in Bydgoszcz. In 2015 he received a Krystian Zimerman scholarship and performed in the finals of the 17th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition to win the Audience Prize. In 2017 he won First Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv, considered one of the most important competitions in the world, as well as several additional prizes, including the Best Performance of a Chopin Piece Prize.

?ukasz Krupi?ski is a winner of the 7th International Piano Competition in San Marino, and the winner of all contest prizes: the Audience Award, the Music Critics Award, and the Orchestra Award (September 2016). A finalist of the International Competition of Ferruccio Busoni in Bolzano (2017) and the winner of International Piano Competitions in Aachen (2016) and Hannover (2015). In October 2015 ?ukasz was in the prestigious group of the best 20 pianists of the 17th Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition.

Marek Bracha is seen as one of Poland's most interesting pianists of the new generation. An artist with a refined, understated expressive style, Bracha is well versed in the classical and romantic repertoire, and feels comfortable with both modern and period instruments. In August 2010 Bracha won the second prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition at Mariánske Lázn? in the Czech Republic and in October 2010 was one of four Polish pianists representing Poland in the second stage of the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland.
