There are many starting points found in origami, of which a 'Kite Base' is one. The two-piece band consisting of bass guitarists Ayse Hassan (Savages) and Kendra Frost, have announced their forthcoming electronic post punk debut full-length, Latent Whispers, to be released May 26. The band has delivered a dark, ethereal and deceivingly sensitive collection. The duo previously shared videos for album tracks Soothe, Dadum and Transition as well as a cover of the Nine Inch Nails song Something I Can Never Have, which quickly caught the attention of Pitchfork and was praised by Trent Reznor himself.

Recorded partly in their homes and finalized in a basement in Hoxton once known as 'MemeTune' (the studio of Benge Edwards of Wrangler and John Foxx and The Maths), the self-produced album was engineered & mixed by Chris Hamilton (Squarepusher). Early Kite Base singles have garnered radio play on KEXP from John Richards as well as BBC Radio 6 from Mary Anne Hobbs, Marc Riley and Chris Hawkins. The band has also done a Radio X session with John Kennedy today.

Kite Base is the outcome of two friends with complementary yet contrasting approaches and a goal to realise a shared passion for the lower end frequencies, melody and beats. The disparate nature of two basses working together is a springboard for the moody yet melodic sound. Effortlessly introducing the intricacy of electronics and vocal harmonies has created a powerful record.
