The following night, September 27, Weller will conclude his triumphant U.S. tour at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles in support of A Kind Revolution, which The Associated Press called, "An excellent set of richly-detailed yet uncluttered songs, which prolong his creative renaissance."
After a pair of sold-out shows in Northern California this past weekend, The San Francisco Chronicle noted, "Paul Weller is on a hot streak".
As previously announced, Weller has just released two of the stand-out tracks from the album digitally:
"The Cranes Are Back" ("One of the most beautiful things Weller has ever done" - The Guardian) is available to download as an edited version, while "One Tear" will be featured in three different remixes plus an instrumental version, with a digital bundle also available and a limited 12" vinyl edition to be released on November 10.
Frequently singled out as one of the best songs on the album, the pulsating disco-esque funk of "One Tear" - featuring the intertwined vocals by the venerable Boy George - is remixed by Thomaas Banks aka Tom Coveney, one half of the prolific U.K. duo Psychemagik. Prof. Kybertand The Meeq provide alternative remixes. The "One Tear" mix bundle track-listing is as follows:
1. One Tear - Black Petal Remix - Thomaas Banks
2. One Tear - Travesty Remix - The Meeq
3. One Tear - Club Cut Remix - Prof. Kybert
4. One Tear - Instrumental
Also available now is a brand new, thought-provoking track entitled "Mother Ethiopia," presented in three parts. The track is available to download/stream or as a limited edition 12" vinyl single. "Mother Ethiopia" sees Weller exploring new musical avenues and this release takes a very different sonic direction from the sound of his latest album.
"Part 1" enlists the help of modern soul band, Stone Foundation - Weller has been a fan of theirs for some time, producing and appearing on their latest album Street Rituals, which was also released earlier this year.
Alongside the collaboration with Stone Foundation, there are two alternate versions of "Mother Ethiopia" - one with Bongo Bob, and the other a vocal version featuring London-based Ethiopian 3-piece Krar Collective with the lead vocals (in Amharic) by Krar's Genet Assefa.
