Park City Institute presents Singer, Songwriter and Author, Dar Williams, 2/24 Park City Institute presents singer, songwriter and author, Dar Williams, Saturday February 24, at 7:30 PM. Performing songs from a career that includes 10 studio albums, and leading a conversation about how communities find and nurture their souls, Williams will perform on the Main Stage, part of PCI's 20th Anniversary Season at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center.

Her performance at the Eccles will weave together her work as a singer-songwriter and author.

"I'll be singing, reading, and sharing ideas with the audience about what makes a town independent and prosperous," Williams said. "Throughout my travels, I wrote notes, I talked to people, and ultimately I interviewed them about the magical crossroads where life had returned to main streets and town greens. My book is part how-to guide, part love song to our country and all its possibilities. I truly believe that when we help our towns find their souls, we find our own as well."

"We are excited to welcome Dar Williams to our Main Stage," said Teri Orr, PCI's Executive Director. "In her music and her books, she seems to see into our souls. She will sing, tell stories, and then engage the audience in a discussion inspired by her latest book. She wrote What I Learned In A Thousand Towns, about her experiences seeing the towns she visited on tour, transform from vacant to vibrant-and how they did it"

Known as much for her progressive ideals as her raw acoustic energy, Williams has captivated audiences with her honesty in her folk-pop songwriting since the '90s. Williams' growth as an individual over her two-decade-long career has gone hand-in-hand with her evolution as an artist. She has toured with artists including Joan Baez, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, Loudon Wainwright III and Shawn Colvin.

Williams has been named "one of America's very best singer-songwriters" by The New Yorker. Her latest album, Emerald, is her tenth studio album-called "superb" by The Telegraph. She has received praise for her four books, as well. "What I Found In A Thousand Towns, A Traveling Musician's Guide to Rebuilding America's Communities, One Coffee Shop, Dog Run, and Open-Mike Night at a Time," was published in 2017. The New York Times praised Williams for, "bypassing the "parade of music memoirs," and instead writing about "...how she believes towns can best thrive in an age of economic and environmental struggles." Kirkus said, "During a time of political, economic, and social upheaval across the United States, Williams' grounded optimism is a refreshing corrective."
