Award-Winning Musicians Team For Hurricane Harvey Charity Single

Led by five-time Grammy nominee and Sound Royalties' Director of Funding Reggie Calloway, a group of renowned musicians from the Los Angeles area today released a new charity single to benefit and grow music programs in the Houston Independent School District recently devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Titled "Houston" with the main message of "Bless Your Children," the song is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music and a variety of digital and streaming platforms.

The soul-stirring track is led by Reggie Calloway and Vincent Calloway and features Walter and Wallace Scott of The Whispers, Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge, Kevin Toney of The Blackbyrds, Brian O'Neal of The BusBoys and musicians Freddie Washington and Herman Jackson, among others. The cohort pledged their time and talent for an all-day recording session at Skip Saylor Recording's studio and then later at the studio of respected producer Tommy Brown.

Inspired to take meaningful action in the aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Harvey, Calloway wrote the song and then assembled the talented group of Los Angeles musicians to bring his idea to life. A behind-the-scenes video that will premiere on December 22 on YouTube will showcase clips from the making of the songs and highlight the power of creative teamwork with a uniting purpose.

"The song 'Houston' is a symbol of hope in a time of much need. It is a powerful call to action for the music-making and music-loving communities to support the rebuilding of the decimated Houston public school music programs," Calloway said. "So often, the perils and disasters that occur in the world seem to leave us paralyzed and we do nothing. But I have learned that we can make a difference one word at a time, one song at a time, one instrument or book at time, and one child at a time. Houston, bless your children."

Member of the duo Calloway and founder of popular techno-funk band Midnight Star, Reggie Calloway is a five-time Grammy nominee, including a nomination for R&B Songwriter of the Year for his hit song "Casanova." Currently, he serves as Director of Music Royalty Funding for music-focused finance firm Sound Royalties, which is a strong champion of this effort by Calloway.

"Sound Royalties is proud to support our very own Reggie Calloway in this important project to help build back Houston's public school music programs," said Alex Heiche, Founder and CEO of Sound Royalties, which ran its own hurricane relief efforts for affected musicians in September. "We encourage the music community to rise in support of music education across the globe, starting with this vital campaign for Houston."

"Houston" is available now on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music and a variety of digital and streaming platforms. All proceeds will benefit music programs in the Houston Independent School District affected by Hurricane Harvey.
