Sandra Bullock in Talks to Play 'Miss Hannigan' in ANNIE Film

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandra Bullock is in talks to join Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis in producers Will Smith and Jay-Z's film adaptation of Annie for Sony. Bullock would play alcoholic orphanage caretaker 'Miss Hannigan' in the film.

Will Gluck is directing the forthcoming major motion picture remake of the beloved Charles Strouse/Thomas Meehan/Martin Charnin stage musical classic Annie from a revised script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna. The film is aiming to begin production in late fall 2013 for a 2014 release.

Bullock rose to fame in the 1990s after roles in successful films such as Demolition Man, Speed, The Net, Hope Floats, A Time to Kill, and While You Were Sleeping. In the new millennium, she appeared in such films as Miss Congeniality, The Lake House, and Crash, the third of which received critical acclaim. In 2009, Bullock starred in two of the more financially successful films of her career, The Proposal[2] and The Blind Side.Bullock was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side.

The Tony Award-winning stage musical Annie has previously been filmed twice, the first time in 1982 with John Huston in the director's chair and later in a made-for-TV adaptation produced by Disney and helmed by CHICAGO director Rob Marshall in 1999. ANNIE is currently playing on Broadway in a James Lapine-directed revival starring Lilla Crawford, Jane Lynch and Anthony Warlow.
