Karl Strauss Brewing Company has announced the return of its cult-classic, Peanut Butter Cup Porter. The company first brewed Peanut Butter Cup Porter for San Diego Beer Week last year and fans went wild for it, with all 80 kegs running out in less than 5 days. This year, the company more than doubled production to keep up with demand. The company is experiencing 27% growth in the more mature San Diego off-premise market, and looks forward to eventually adding Peanut Butter Cup porter to its list of bottled offerings.

"San Diego went crazy for Peanut Butter Cup Porter last year. All the brewers loved this concept but we had no idea it would take off the way it did," says Paul Segura, Brewmaster, Karl Strauss Brewing Company. Peanut Butter Cup Porter is brewed with a blend of chocolate malt, caramel malts, and all-natural peanut powder, with cocoa nibs added for depth and rich chocolate flavor. The beer is then warm fermented with a traditional English ale yeast, adding to the layers of roast, chocolate, and smooth peanut butter. "We've been getting a ton of requests to bottle this beer and it just might find a home in our Cask- Inspired series next year," says Segura.

In addition to sharing Peanut Butter Cup Porter, the company is kicking off San Diego Beer Week with its Brewmaster's Brunch at the newly opened tasting room at the main brewery in Pacific Beach. The event will feature a lineup of seven award-winning beers carefully paired with a gourmet menu from Miho Gastrotruck. Brewmaster Paul will be leading the tasting and all guests will be given a "return ticket" to come back and enjoy a pint of their choice anytime during beer week. "The menu looks insane and I'm really looking forward to trying Wreck Alley paired with fried pork belly and the Tower 20 IIPA with spiny lobster tamalito," says Segura. A complete menu and limited tickets are available online.
