'Dough-ing' Good This National Pizza Month With Slices for Smiles

Pizza Pizza is wrapping up National Pizza Month with one of its most cherished recipes: specials on discounted pizzas dressed with a good cause and topped with lots of smiles! For the next few weeks, Canada's leading pizza chain will offer a special discount on its most popular pizza in an effort to raise more than $150,000 for 14 children's hospitals across Canada.

Participating in the fundraiser is easy. Customers can contribute by walking into any participating Pizza Pizza restaurant and purchasing a medium pepperoni pizza for $4.99 from October 14 to November 10, or a 10" half smile pizza for only $2 from October 14 to 27. In addition, those that purchase the popular $4.99 medium walk-in deal will receive a $10 Toys "R" Us Save & Crave card. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these two menu items will be donated to Children's Miracle Network.

"We're always exploring recipes and trying new things," said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. "This recipe of discounts, the smile pizza and a donation to a very worthy children's cause is a winner, and one that we're delighted to present as part of our National Pizza Month celebrations."

"Everyone loves pizza," said John Hartman, Chief Operating Officer, Canada for Children's Miracle Network. "So really the proposition is simple. We're asking people to enjoy a good deal and a smile pizza knowing that a portion of the proceeds goes to raising critical funds and awareness for our children's hospitals."

In addition to the proceeds, Pizza Pizza invites customers to top off their purchase with a donation on orders placed by phone, online, in-store or through the Pizza Pizza mobile ordering apps, which are now also available on Android. This fundraising recipe seems to be working well. Since launching the Slices for Smiles program in 2007, Pizza Pizza and its customers and partners have raised more than $1 million for children's charities.

All traditional Pizza Pizza restaurant locations across Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia will participate in Slices for Smiles. Funds that are raised locally will stay in the community to benefit the Children's Miracle Network member hospital in that region.
