Max Crumm & Lucy DeVito to Lead Romantic Comedy HOT MESS Off-Broadway

A romantic comedy...that goes both ways.

HOT MESS, a romantic comedy by Dan Rothenberg (Suburban Boy; Regretrosexual) and Colleen Crabtree (The Tragic and Horrible Life of the Singing Nun, The Groundlings), and directed by Jonathan Silverstein (tick, tick...BOOM; John & Jen; The Temperamentals), will play The Jerry Orbach Theater at The Theater Center (1627 Broadway at 50th Street) beginning November 7th and opening on November 16th, it was announced today by producers Jay Alix and Una Jackman.

Angst-ridden Max and mildly unstable Elanor are soul mates. They have revealed every crazy and embarrassing quirk to each other, which has only brought them closer. However, there is one issue that Max is holding onto. Elanor has discussed her ex-boyfriends with Max. Max hasn't quite mentioned his. Hot Mess proves that sometimes in order to find yourself, you have to get lost.

The cast of HOT MESS includes Max Crumm (Broadway: Disaster!; Grease) as Max, Lucy DeVito (Steel Magnolias, "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia;" "Speech and Debate") as Elanor, and Paul Molnar (Alphabetical Order) as Lewis/Steve/Jason/Therapist/Tow Truck Guy.

HOT MESS features scenic design by Tobin Ost (Broadway: Newsies, Disaster!), costume design by Bobby Frederick Tilley (Guards at the Taj, Lizzie Borden), lighting design by Matthew Richards(Broadway: Ann) and sound design by Bart Fasbender (Broadway: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), casting is by David Caparelliotis, C.S.A.

HOT MESS will play at The Jerry Orbach Theater at The Theater Center (1627 Broadway at 50th Street) beginning November 7 and opening on November 16.

Performances from November 7 -November 12 are Tuesday 11/7 at 8pm, Wednesday 11/8 at 8pm, Friday 11/10 at 8pm, Saturday 11/11 at 8pm, Sunday 11/12 at 3pm and 7pm.

Performances November 13 - November 19 are Monday 11/13 at 7pm, Tuesday 11/14 at 7pm, Wednesday 11/15 at 7pm, Saturday 11/18 at 2pm and 8pm, Sunday 11/19 at 3pm and 7pm. Performances from November 21 - November 26, Tuesday 11/21 at 7pm, Wednesday 11/22 at 2pm,Friday 11/24 at 2pm and 8pm, Saturday 11/25 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday 11/26 at 3pm and 7pm. ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Max Crumm (Max) is currently starring in Legendale at the Human Race Theatre and starred in Beatsville at Asolo Repertory Theatre earlier this year. Last year, he originated the role of 'Scott' in Disaster! on Broadway. Max is represented by Headline Talent Agency and Vanguard Management Group. Broadway: Disaster! Lucy DeVito (Elanor) is an actress and producer originally from Los Angeles. She most recently appeared in The Comedian with Robert DeNiro. Some other films include, Leaves of Grass, alongside Edward Norton and Mike Birbiglia's Sleepwalk With Me, as well as an upcoming role in Tim Burton's Dumbo. She is also known for her television work, particularly for playing Sue on Hulu's original series "Deadbeat", as well as roles in "Girls", "Alpha House" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Last year she starred in and produced the short film Curmudgeons, that played numerous festivals including Tribeca and BFI London. Selected theatre work includes, How My Grandparents Fell in Love (EST), Steel Magnolias (BCP), Love Loss and What I Wore (off-b'way & Geffen), The Electric Baby (Two River), Miracle at Naples (Huntington), In Quietness (Dutch Kills), Lucy (EST) and The Diary of Anne Frank (Intiman).

Paul Molnar (Lewis/Steve/Jason/Therapist/Tow Truck Guy), originally from Michigan, has been an acting, directing, teaching or producing since moving to NYC 20 years ago. His acting work includes work with: Keen Company, Epiphany, Adobe, Tangent and Fifth Street Theatre. Regional credits: Premier Stages, Asolo Rep, Vermont Stage, Lost Nation, Michigan Shakespeare Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, New American Theatre and 12 Miles West Theatre. TV/ Film credits include: Law & Order, Law & Order SVU & Person of Interest. As a Fight Director: Off Broadway credits: Roulette, Tape, Ghoul, DiCapo Opera, EST, 47th Street Theatre. Other New York credits include: Fordham University, Queens College, MITF, and Keen Company. Dan Rothenberg (playwright) has been writing plays and performing Stand-up since 1997. Through his numerous acclaimed One-Man shows "Suburban Boy", 'DANger" and "Regretrosexual", he earned a reputation for creating material about identity and sexuality that is rarely touched by male comedians and writers. Dan's quirky issues and infectious likability have fueled his career, leading to performances on Comedy Central and NBC. Dan's greatest pride is his autobiographical play, Regretrosexual, The Love Story, which he co-wrote and starred with his wife Colleen in 2007-2008. The show ran in Los Angeles and Edinburgh.

Colleen Crabtree (playwright) has been gleefully expressing too much of herself with story since childhood. In 1995, Colleen graduated with a degree in Film Production from USC and followed this by becoming a company member of the World-Famous Groundlings Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles. She went on to write numerous sketches and plays while acting in commercials and films such as "I Love You, Man", "Closing Escrow" and "Opposite Day"

Jonathan Silverstein (director) is the Artistic Director of Off Broadway's award winning Keen Company where he directed tick, tick...BOOM! (Drama Desk nomination), John & Jen starting Kate Baldwin (Drama Desk Nomination), A Walk in the Woods starring Kathleen Chalfant (Drama Desk Nomination), Stephen Sondheim's Marry Me a Little (Drama League Nomination), Middle of the Night, The Old Boy, and The Film Society. Jonathan also directed the award winning Off Broadway world premiere of Jon Marans' The Temperamentals produced by Daryl Roth (Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble). Other Off Broadway credits include revivals of Lemon Sky, The Dining Room (Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Director; Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble), Tea and Sympathy, I Never Sang for My Father, and The Hasty Heart.
